SAINZ VERA, JUAN / MBENGUE ARROYO, MALICK
The intention of this book is to show other ways of conceiving and interpreting the flamenco «compás» and rhythms, through an alternative approach to notation, synthetic and practical, and particular elaborations of traditional rhythms and pattens adapted to other styles and percussion instruments, proposing work methods to deepen in this rhythmic fusion.
This project is part of the most current musicological research studies about the origin and evolution of flamenco, its relationship with the black music and the round trip of its influences across the American continent, confirming how the mestizo character of this art is still valid, and in process, nowadays.
Book aimed not only to percussionists, but at all those musicians interested in broadening their knowledge of the flamenco rhythmic language and in exploring, experimenting and discovering the rhythmic sounds compatible with it.
